Dresser Makeova'

Okay this was the dresser, purchased at Target like 2 1/2 - 3 years ago.
It is a lovely dresser, and I am a lovely destructor.
It needed some TLC and spray paint!!!!

Flash forward....

Supplies:
Spray paint: I have no idea what this color is labeled
3 things of molding: they are anywhere from 9-20 bucks each
(its cheaper than a new dresser!)
super strong glue: I used 'hard as nails'
a dude with a saw: I used Nicholas(my love)

I think you can pretty much figure out how I did this so, nuff said.
Instead lets dissect what is in the drawers!

Drawer numero uno:

brushes, pens, ect: yes, good, I need these things
Purse: leather
craft turned bad: its cotton, but it wont take to any dyes.... even lovely prochem dyes!
tea can: for use of storage, love love love storage
nick's birthday present: its a secret and its awesome!
Coffee can: i think im gonna put all my change in there and then become a millionaire
b day car: from my parents, yeah im 21 now, no i probably wont ever drink
hanger: to hang....

Drawer Deux:

slightly boring must haves with an impressive collection of rulers.
restasis was for my mums eyes, she got that lasik, and loves it
and i love the restasis containers, so great for making washes and keeping them!

Drawer 3:

Knitty-Yarn-Fiber drawer
Mostly half done knitting projects and a shnazzzzy show box.
pound of yarn: taken from my nanas house, she has all sorts of lovely materials lying around.
plastic bag: sad sad.... the ban on plastic bags was not passed?!?! i couldn't believe it.

Final drawer:

mostly papery stuff and i am getting bored of this!
i love books and electricity!

Monkey Approved.
and as you can see he has adopted a disguise, to keep his identity safe.
Cheers (was a terrible show)

Pink Paper Dress Unveiling!

Okay so like two weeks ago my sewing teacher comes up to me and tells me she has a friend that has a friend that is looking for someone to make a dress out of paper and she thinks of me! I get all the contact information and things get going. I met my client (i have clients!) at a Starbucks to find out all the little details that are nessa to make such a dress. Next thing I know I am at my trusty dress form creating the bodice.

yeah that's me in my pj's.
anyways, here is the bodice, so far its just tape and newspaper.

Then I made a petty coat with newspaper!

but then, i went the paper mache route so here it is drying in the sunlight

After, I gessoed and glued and cut and crumpled.
This is what came out of that.
The pink is paper plates, the white is gesso, and the bluish-white is gift wrap

and after hours of cutting out the middle of paper plates and making tiny little dots this is what came out! Also I added some rad little gems for sparkle. So the bodice was pretty much done and I had like a ton of paper plate rim scrap so....

they obviously wanted to become the skirt. And who am I to deny paper plate rim scrap?
My Client came over and tried it all on, and guess what? she loves it! Which is going to motivate me to get going and make accessories!

Professional photos to come!
Yeah were doing a photo shoot....

Cheers!

My scarf boys!

This is my Bird, he likes his scarf!

This is my Bo, he likes his scarf.

Here they are tired after a long photo shoot.
Bird didn't want Bo to wear his scarf, so he took it off him.

Okay!

New Project!

I don't want to share too much but I cannot keep it locked up either!
I'm designing and making a dress and matching tie/ cuffs for this sweet couple who are celebrating their first year of marriage. These clever newly weds did not want to exchange coupons or calendars but they knew it had to be something paper, which is the traditional gift to give on the first year. The Mrs. found this picture and BAM! she had the idea and knew how to make it happen.
They found me through a friend of a friend of a friend, as most thing go in my life. I love my friends and their choices in friends! Anyways I am taking a break in my madness to post a early picture of the dress, its just the 'bones' but it does give an idea of the silhouette and neck line.

I am gonna go fuller in the skirt. The newspaper is like the petty coat I suppose! I have ambitions of posting stages of the project and so far I have been good at snapping shots here and there with help from Nick.

Better be off!
Cheers!
